Celebrate

May seems to be full of celebrations in this little neck of our woods. A couple of weeks ago, I was honored to take part in a Mother’s Day celebration at Carter’s preschool. They pampered us, sang us songs, made us smile, gave us a gift, and let us all go first through the food line while they wiggled with ants in their pants waited patiently while we chose our little treats first. I’m not sure how I ended up with two of them, but Carter is my second child who sings the very loudest in his class. Brayden was the same way. Apparently daddy’s loud singing genes are very strong ones.

We also wrapped up AWANA for the year. Carter finished his whole Cubbies book this year, and he will move on to the next “level” in the fall when he enters Kindergarten. That’s the level that Brayden just finished. And boy, are we proud of that big guy. I think it was last week how I wrote that he was struggling to finish memorizing the last of his verses–there were a LOT of them, and they were long. But he did it, and just in the knick of time. Out of 46 kids, there were only THREE kids that finished the year with “The Sparky Award”. To get the Sparky Award, you have to finish all three books, and memorize a total of 150 Bible verses. Brayden was one of the three, along with our good friend Olivia. He will be getting a plaque for his accomplishments, and he was so thrilled to hear that.

Today I will head to Carter’s preschool graduation ceremony. Another celebration. Another milestone. Another one to record in the books. His Kindergarten screening was yesterday. It seems like everything is a massive whirlwind–time is going too quickly. I pray that I can celebrate each day in itself and never forget the significance of the small moments!
