This summer, James and I really wanted to have an outdoor movie night in our yard. Complete with a bunch of friends, lots of kiddos snuggled onto blankets, snacks all around and a warm, happy feeling as if all is right in the world. So last week, we celebrated Sawyer’s birthday and did just that. Turns out though, that summer is a hard time to plan an event in which you want all of your friends to be there. So, only a handful of families were able to come because everyone else was on vacation, visiting family out of town or had another commitment they couldn’t get out of. Perhaps we will just have to have another in August! Our front yard has plenty of space, so we were able to park all our vans in a line to pretend like we were at the drive-in. But nobody sat in their vehicle. . . it was just for ambience sake 🙂  And we all merrily watched Monsters University. It’s quite a process to get setup, but we think it’s worth the work.

Another thing we got to check off our list this weekend was blueberry picking. There is an amazing blueberry patch about ten minutes from our house that’s a bit of a well kept secret. They don’t have a website–they don’t advertise. But seriously, the blueberries there are plentiful, amazing and sort of a bit unbelievable. You literally could park yourself at one bush and be content with how many you find. As with picking cherries though . . . we eat so many while we are picking that we don’t want to eat them once we bring them home! Ha. Our think our plan is to stick a bunch in the freezer and use them for smoothies. Still cheaper than buying the bag of frozen ones at the store.

And on a random note, tomorrow it’s been two years since the accident that took Heather Boyum’s life. Some of my thoughts will be on the blog, as I like to do every so often to help keep her memory alive and to help remind people to stay sober and drug free when they drive.
