Bubbles are Joy

It seems that James and I are constantly revamping things in our house, trying to make for better flow.  Better organization.  Better ways in which to rearrange the same clutter.  There is always something in the house that is in total disarray–waiting it’s turn for the clean out.  Only to get messy again in a couple of months.  We used to have it under control.  Then 2007 came, bringing a child into our lives, and my scheduled cleaning and organizing and fifteen minute daily pickups no longer existed.  Labels on things in the pantry and things in the shower never face out anymore.  Blinds aren’t dusted every other week.  My kitchen floor is scrubbed now only about three times a year.  And the bathtub?  Ha.  Add my serious amount of toy clutter and you have one big mess.
BUT, I just finished cleaning my office, and that certainly makes me happy.  As if there aren’t enough places that become dumping grounds in our house–the office gets picked on often.  Around Christmas time, it became a mess of boxes and wrapping staples–gifts, labels, shipping supplies.  Add a couple of photo shoots, leaving my collecion of photography supplies not put back in the proper place.  My desk had about twenty layers of junk–I don’t even know how I worked.  It took me a couple of nights, and two full garbage bags.  And I finally have it looking decent again.  Awesome.  Next week, I’ll post a picture again–you’ll be able to see what it looks like when it gets messy.  From clean to messy in seven days.  You watch.

Carter is walking all over the house now.  He still crawls a lot.  But if he gets the chance to pull himself up on anything, then walking is the choice of transportation.  I love that he still looks like Frankenstein.  He makes my heart leap with happiness.

And I found this amazing toy at a used store near us.  I paid five bucks for it, which is actually a little more than I normally would’ve paid for something like that, because when it comes to toys, I am a cheapskate.  I have found such nice things at such a low price, that I get spoiled and become bratty when I have to pay a lot for something.  At least, I’m being honest, right??  But five bucks for this–I’d do it all over again.  And you should buy one too, if you have a young child with a birthday coming up!
Mr. Octopus has brought a little bit of summer into our kitchen.  And the boys totally loved it.  It was Carter’s first time seeing bubbles, and I loved watching his little face take it in.

Doesn’t he have the sweetest little munchkin face?  Don’t even bring up the fact that he will be one in three weeks.  I don’t want to hear it.
