A Poem by Cameron’s Mama:

 

Slow down mama,

Breathe

Hold him close and stay

Present in this moment, here now today

Soon enough he will grow out of size 0-3

He will run away from you to climb in the trees

Breathe

deep the smell of his skin

The soft dimple next to his chin

Put down your phone

Watch him laugh watch him play

Before he is big enough to sprint away

 

Breathe

The laundry can wait the dishes too

He needs you to take him to the zoo

To see the world beyond his reach

To feed him to hold him and to teach

Breathe

in this moment, it won’t be here long

For now, he needs you to sing him a song

To hold him to dress him to wipe his tears

To chase away all of his wildest fears

You’re his mama, the one and only

Breathe

in mama, you got this no matter how hard

Hold him close take him into the yard

They are tiny for such a short time

Make each moment divine

Hold him and love him be patient and

Breathe
