I love taking pictures of my friend Jami’s family.  There is a wonderful reason for this.  It’s because when I go to her house, and look around, there are pictures hanging ALL over her walls and framed on her tables and shelves. Pictures that I took of them.  And it makes me happy. . . not because it gives me a big head.  But it makes me happy because Jami has found that pictures are so important for preserving where we were memories.  This is who we were at this point in time.  This is where we came from.  This is love.  This is family.  And it makes her happy.  

And in twenty years, when her memories are fading on those tiny details of what her son’s smile was like when he was three.  And how perfectly her little daughter fit in her arms when she was just two months old.  

Those photos that are hanging all over her walls will hold the memories alive.  

And that’s truly why I love my job.
