When I took a look at the list of my sessions that have yet to be blogged, I saw Lucas was still on there. And as you can see from the images, we did his six month session before Christmas. It’s not that I’m behind in my blogging, it’s just that with only a couple of sessions blogged each week (because I also blog my family images as well on alternating days), sessions end up getting blogged months after I shoot them. And that’s okay for me–I find it fun to look back and remember things about each session. It’s also fun for clients to have their images pop up once again and to smile and remember the cute smiles and little outfits they brought for their little ones, and to reminisce back to a few months ago when their babies look so much different than they do now.

I just got an email from Lucas’s mom saying that we need to choose a date for his one year session in May. My how time flies.

This particular session was for Lucas’s six month pictures–he wasn’t quite six months yet, but was doing a good job sitting up for a little bit at a time. And it wasn’t a happy day for him–doing pictures sometimes is a little overwhelming for little ones if they aren’t used to the attention of a complete stranger, or new places, or maybe they didn’t have a good nap. Lucas wasn’t thrilled to be at the studio on this particular day, but I was pleased to still get some adorable smiles from him. At the end of the session, when it seemed he just didn’t want to be in the pictures all alone anymore, we grabbed a few with his mom and dad.  Because, as I always say (in newborn sessions too), baby leads the session!

And it turns out. . . those are my favorite images from the session.  The relational shots. The ones that are important–the ones in thirty years that will looked back on and will help them remember what it was like to hold and snuggle their little guy when he was six months old. Those are the best.
