A Little Behind

I know I am days behind.  With Brayden’s birthday this past Wednesday, and planning for the party which is in a few hours, I have piles of pictures waiting for me.  I am getting to them slowly.
But, even though it we are approaching a new weekend, I wanted to reminisce about the last weekend we had.  The kind where you look back and think without a doubt that life really is good.

The kind that you spend being lazy at your parents house, planning the possibilities of things you could do while sitting under the deck canopy eating delicious food.  Turkey on the grill (ever hear of that one?), extra crispy authentic Buffalo wings with loads of blue cheese, your favorite chicken fajita from Mighty Taco (the best fast food ever invented) and strawberry shortcake made with the most amazing sugar-coated butter-soaked biscuits on this side of the country.

The kind where you and your mom go on a shopping adventure to a local consignment store and come back with bags of treasures, mostly for your husband who is thankful to receive them and tries them on for you like a fashion show model.
The kind filled with the company of some of your best friends, thinking about the thousands of reasons why you are so blessed to have them in your lives.  And hoping that you will forever do life together with them.
The kind where you go fishing off the dock in the backyard and watch your son’s face light up with pure joy as he catches his first fish with daddy and papa.  And then tractor rides for the two littles to top off the afternoon.
The kind where the whole lot of you pack into a couple of vehicles and shimmy on over to the zoo, even if it’s just for an hour.  All sunscreened up and ready for an adventure.

The kind where your husband and friend celebrate completing a half marathon and come through the door wearing their medals because it’s something to be so proud of.
These kind of weekends are the ones worth remembering.  The ones to hold dear to your heart.  The ones filled with all kinds of people you love, and who you are so incredibly thankful for.
